A life of veterinary nursing gave Brenda Wheeler a head start in organising a pedigree chart, and after several years of research she enrolled at the National Institute for Genealogical Studies. The initial idea of ‘just doing a few courses’ expanded and Brenda has now graduated in English Records, General Methodology and Irish Records. She is the co-ordinator of the English Chat monthly sessions, and, together with Jennifer Eklund, PLCGS and Lynda Kleingertner runs the NIGS social network groups on GenealogyWise, Facebook and Twitter.
Brenda is an active member of the Hervey Bay Family History Association Inc. organising their annual family history conference and running the Introduction to Family History classes. She also runs Beginners and Intermediate family history classes for the Hervey Bay U3A (University of the Third Age).
Brenda is also a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the National Genealogical Society, Queensland Family History Society and three international study groups.
Brenda lives in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia and runs her own genealogical research business, “Relative Discoveries” specialising in Australian, English, Irish and Dutch research, as well as undertaking speaking engagements in both Queensland and interstate.
