The National Institute for Genealogical
Studies was established to assist all genealogists---from family historians to practising professionals---by
providing studies in a variety of genealogical topics. Education provides an important role in raising levels of
personal and visible growth and in the certification or accreditation of genealogists.
With this in mind, a group of professional genealogists came together to create courses and programs conforming
to recognized genealogical standards, with several objectives:
- To assist the family historian research and record information regarding their ancestors in a responsible and professional manner.
- To help the serious amateur genealogist gain the skills required to apply for certification or accreditation.
- To help the professional genealogist develop a part-time or full-time career in our chosen field.
A project of this magnitude can only be accomplished with the involvement of many individuals. The exceptional assistance
and efforts of all those individuals who participated in the development of these courses, is greatly appreciated. A very
special THANK YOU is extended...
We are not suggesting that we have thought of all subjects or areas of study
involved in our genealogical world. It is our objective to continue adding as many subject-specific courses deemed
appropriate or necessary in the learning process of our hobby or career.
We would like your suggestions as to which
topics you would like to see added to our course selection. We would also appreciated your suggestions and comments as to
how we can make this learning experience a better one for you.
